ARSAS 1.6.33: Fast, unified and responsive IEC 61850 FAT workspace

ARSAS 1.6.33 unifies Engineering and FAT around the imported SCL model, shortens direct-SCL connection readiness, projects structured THD and demand-energy values correctly, and keeps operator input responsive during continuous live acquisition.

What’s new

Changes in the latest stable release

  • Direct-SCL FAT connection reuses the imported model and reaches monitoring after the MMS association and bounded point setup without a discovery-from-zero or legacy settle delay.
  • Engineering and FAT share SCL signal identity and operator selection; switching workspace no longer creates an isolated signal universe.
  • Additional CID, SCD, ICD or IID sources can be added to an existing FAT project, including while another IED evidence session remains active.
  • Structured ThdA and ThdPPV parent values preserve their phase A/B/C or AB/BC/CA members, while DmdWhMV uses the exact MMS value authority exposed by the relay.
  • Windows taskbar grouping uses the embedded ARSAS icon and a stable explicit application identity.
Reliability improvements

Delivery and workflow hardening

  • Live FAT observations are coalesced in bounded dispatcher batches below mouse and keyboard input priority, while the dedicated digital-edge queue remains lossless.
  • Steady telemetry updates only visible value cells; it no longer re-filters the entire DataGrid or resets autosave for every poll.
  • Capture progress and workspace summaries update only when evidence or test state actually changes.
  • Adding an IED synchronizes only the new endpoints, leaving the active IED's capture map and evidence scope immutable.
  • The Windows release remains gated by the full ARSAS regression suite, portable smoke validation, checksums, SPDX SBOM, provenance and GitHub attestations.

1.6.33Stable Windows workspace

ARSAS 1.6.33 shares imported SCL signal identity between Engineering and FAT while bounded background refresh keeps operator interaction responsive.

Known limitations

Read these before field use.

  • Physical relay validation remains necessary for vendor-specific values, report behavior and field network conditions that cannot be reproduced by CI.
  • Adding an SCL source does not automatically start or switch the active FAT evidence session; the operator selects and starts each IED explicitly.
  • Windows x64 is the only packaged desktop platform in this stable release.
  • The public binaries are not Authenticode code-signed; Windows SmartScreen may show an unrecognized-publisher warning.
  • Raw-Ethernet GOOSE and Sampled Values workflows require an administrator-installed and approved Npcap driver, suitable capture permission and visibility of the relevant multicast traffic.
Code-signing status

Not Authenticode-signed

The current public Windows installer and portable EXE do not carry a commercial Authenticode publisher signature. Verify the published SHA-256 value before use. SmartScreen warnings are therefore possible and are not hidden from users.

Status: unsigned

A checksum verifies file identity against published release evidence. It does not create a Windows publisher identity or replace Authenticode.

SBOM and provenance scope

Evidence applies only to the release that actually carries it.

ARSAS 1.6.33 has the package evidence listed on its tagged release. This page does not infer an SBOM or GitHub provenance attestation when those assets are absent.

Current release

Use the package names, sizes, SHA-256 values, publish date and Authenticode status shown for this exact version.

Releases built after P3

The Windows workflow generates an SPDX SBOM and GitHub artifact attestations in the release job and attaches the SBOM to the GitHub Release.

Verification rule

Inspect the exact tag, SBOM asset and repository attestation subject digest before making a provenance claim.

The current stable build includes Rev.3 IO List FAT import, an executive AS TESTED evidence report, a loaded Engineering/FAT workspace session, and direct receive-only GOOSE plus bounded SMV capture from each IED card.

Use the installer for a normal workstation, choose the portable single EXE for an approved no-install deployment, and verify the published SHA-256 before use.
