ARSAS 1.6.41: Clearer event inspection and stable RCB export

ARSAS 1.6.41 adds a versioned native title bar, readable Event Log categories and a read-only auto-hiding Event Properties drawer. The established RCB Export Filter remains the default. The unfinished IED Browser and replacement RCB exporter are not part of this stable release.

What’s new

Changes in the latest stable release

  • Window title reads the compiled installed version: ARSAS v1.6.41.
  • Operator Event categories include Spontaneous, GI, Integrity, Quality, Data update, Poll, State change and Buffer, where supported by decoded evidence.
  • Read-only Event Properties exposes acquisition, raw reason and RCB context in an auto-hiding drawer.
  • The original RCB Export Filter remains the production workflow; experimental Browser and exporter are excluded.
Reliability improvements

Delivery and workflow hardening

  • Public Windows installer and portable binaries are released with SHA-256 checksums, SPDX SBOM and source provenance.
  • Static DataSet monitoring remains report-only with no cyclic MMS process-value polling in that mode.
  • Package identity follows immutable GitHub Release v1.6.41 rather than a manually selected CI artifact.
  • Development work on the redesigned IED Browser and multi-RCB exporter remains isolated from the stable product.

Archived v1.6.40 screenshot documents the established workspace. ARSAS v1.6.41 retains the RCB form and adds Event Properties and the versioned title bar.

Known limitations

Read these before field use.

  • Physical relay validation remains necessary for vendor-specific values, report behavior and field network conditions that cannot be reproduced by CI.
  • Windows x64 is the only packaged desktop platform in this stable release.
  • The public portable binary is not Authenticode code-signed; Windows SmartScreen may show an unrecognized-publisher warning.
  • Raw-Ethernet GOOSE and Sampled Values workflows require an administrator-installed and approved Npcap driver, suitable capture permission and visibility of the relevant multicast traffic.

Not Authenticode-signed

The current public Windows installer and portable binaries do not carry a commercial Authenticode publisher signature. Verify the published SHA-256 value before use. SmartScreen warnings are therefore possible and are not hidden from users.

Declared status: unsigned

This remains visible for Windows UX transparency. Package trust is reviewed through the exact tag, source commit, SHA-256 and supply-chain evidence; publisher-signing status is not used as a product-quality score.
